AI Scene Changer

Transform your daytime house photos into dusk, snow, moonlight, and more — with one click. The AI Scene Changer makes your designs look like professional nighttime mockups without needing to photograph the house at night.

Generate a scene

  1. Open the AI tab — Click the sparkle icon (4th tab) in the sidebar.
  2. Choose a preset — Click one of the scene preset pills. Your selected preset highlights.
  3. Click "Generate" — The AI processes your photo. A loading overlay appears with progress stages and fun facts while you wait (typically 15-20 seconds).
  4. Click "See the Magic" — When generation completes, a reveal button appears. Click it to see your transformed scene.

Your lights stay exactly where they are. The AI only changes the sky, lighting, and atmosphere — it preserves the house structure, windows, doors, and all architectural details.

Scene presets

Tip: Dusk is free and instant — it applies a programmatic gradient, not an AI generation. It's a great quick option for every design.

Switch between scenes

Once you've generated a scene, it's cached — you can toggle between any previously generated scene for free by clicking its pill. No additional credits are used.

Pill states

  • Active (highlighted with check + ring) — This scene is currently showing on the canvas.
  • Generated (gray with check) — This scene was generated and is cached. Click to switch to it for free.
  • Selected (inverted white) — You've selected this scene but haven't generated it yet. Click "Generate" to create it.
  • Default (muted) — Not yet generated, not selected.

Revert to original

Click "No Scene" or the "Revert to Original" link below the presets to go back to your unmodified photo. This is always free.

Regenerate a scene

If you're not happy with a result, you can regenerate it:

  1. Click the generated preset to select it.
  2. Click "Regenerate" — A confirmation dialog appears: "This will use 1 AI credit to generate a new version. The current result will be replaced."
  3. Click "Regenerate" to confirm, or "Cancel" to keep the current version.

The new generation replaces the previous one for that preset.

AI credits and limits

Scene generation uses AI credits. Every tier comes with a monthly credit grant:

  • Solo — 25 credits / month
  • Crew — 100 credits / month
  • Operator — 400 credits / month
  • Trial — prorated Operator-tier credits for the 7-14 day trial window

Each new AI scene generation (Snow, Blue Hour, Golden Hour, Moonlight, Postcard) costs 1 credit. Regeneration also costs 1 credit. Dusk is always free because it's a programmatic gradient, not an AI call.

Your credit balance lives in the credit meter — the pill in your dashboard nav. When it runs low, a warning appears. When it hits zero, AI operations return a "credits required" message until your monthly grant refills on the 1st.

Run low mid-season? Buy a credit pack.

If you blow through your monthly grant during the busy Oct–Dec run, you can buy an add-on pack at any time:

  • 100 credits — $19
  • 500 credits — $79

Credit packs never expire — unused pack credits stay on your account month-over-month and are consumed after your monthly grant runs out.

Note: Switching between previously generated scenes is always free on any tier — no credits used. Credits only fire on a new generation or a regeneration.

The loading experience

While your scene generates, you'll see a loading overlay with:

  • 4-stage progress bar — Each stage fills over ~5 seconds, giving you a sense of progress.
  • Messages — A mix of informative and entertaining messages rotate through each stage.
  • Entertainment cards — Fun facts about Christmas lights, pro tips for your business, and insights about lighting design rotate every 10 seconds.
  • Reveal moment — When complete, all progress bars fill and a "See the Magic" button appears. Click it to dismiss the overlay and see your result.

Scenes persist across sessions

Your generated scenes are saved with your design. When you reopen a project, all previously generated scenes are still available — you can toggle between them without regenerating.
