Export and Share Your Design

Once your design looks right, export it as an image to share with your client or keep for your records. Lumineer also generates a materials summary so you know exactly what to order.

What you'll learn

  • How to export your design as an image
  • How to read the materials summary
  • Tips for presenting to clients

Export as an image

  1. Open the Export tab — Click the Export icon (download arrow) in the sidebar, or press E on your keyboard.
  2. Click "Download PNG" — Your design exports as a high-resolution PNG image that downloads to your device.

Tip: You can also export as JPG from the Export dropdown in the toolbar (click the arrow next to the Export button). JPG files are smaller but slightly lower quality — good for texting to clients.

Export multiple pages at once

If your design has more than one page, you can bundle several pages into a single ZIP download.

  1. Click the Export button in the toolbar (the download icon).
  2. Choose "Export pages…" from the dropdown.
  3. Pick a format (PNG or JPG).
  4. Choose which pages to include:
    • All pages — every page in the design
    • Current page — just the page you're viewing
    • Choose pages… — pick any combination via checkboxes with thumbnails
  5. Click Download.

Single-page exports download as a plain image file. Multi-page exports download as {design-name}-export.zip with one image per page inside, named {design-name}-page-{N}-{page-name}.png.

Note: While a multi-page export runs, you'll see pages briefly switch on the canvas as each one is rendered. This is expected — it's Lumineer capturing each page at full resolution. Don't close the export dialog until it finishes.

The exported image includes the house photo with all your lights, decorations, and any active AI scene applied. It does not include the ruler, selection outlines, or other editing UI.

Materials summary

Below the export button, the Export tab shows a Materials Summary — a breakdown of everything in your design:

  • Total Bulbs — The total number of light bulbs across all strands and shrubs.
  • Linear Feet — The total length of all strands (only shown if you've calibrated the ruler).
  • Per-element detail — Each strand and shrub is listed individually with:
    • Type and bulb type (e.g., "Strand (C9)")
    • Bulb count
    • Linear feet (if calibrated)
    • Color badges showing the color pattern

Calibration status

At the bottom of the Export tab, a status indicator shows whether your design is calibrated:

  • Green dot — "Calibrated: X.X px/inch" — Measurements are accurate.
  • Yellow dot — "Not calibrated" — Measurements are estimates. Calibrate for accurate counts (see Calibrate measurements).

Tips for presenting to clients

  • Export after applying an AI scene — A dusk or snow scene makes your design look dramatically more realistic than a daytime photo. See AI Scene Changer.
  • Lower the brightness — Use the brightness slider in the Lights tab (Scene Settings) to dim the house photo. This makes the lights pop and mimics how the installation will look at night.
  • Send both the design and the materials list — The image sells the vision; the materials list builds trust by showing you've done the math.
  • Use the design on-site — Pull up the design on your phone or tablet during the walkthrough to show the homeowner exactly what they're getting.
