The Sidebar — Overview
The sidebar is your control center for everything that isn't drawing on the canvas. It has four tabs for different aspects of your design, plus a settings gear.
What you'll learn
- What each sidebar tab does
- How the sidebar adapts to different screen sizes
- How to collapse and expand the sidebar
Sidebar tabs

Sidebar on different screens
The sidebar adapts to your screen size automatically:
Desktop (1025px and wider)
The sidebar is a collapsible panel on the right side of the editor (296px wide). It starts open by default.
- Collapse — Click the "Panel" button in the toolbar, or the close icon in the sidebar. The panel slides away and the canvas expands to fill the space.
- Expand — Click "Panel" again. The panel slides back in.
Tablet (769px – 1024px)
The sidebar shows an icon rail — a narrow strip (64px) with icons for each tab.
- Click an icon to expand the full panel (296px) for that tab.
- Click the same icon or click away to collapse back to the icon rail.
- Click a different icon to switch tabs without closing.
Mobile (768px and narrower)
The sidebar appears as a bottom sheet that slides up from the bottom of the screen.
- Open — Tap any sidebar icon in the bottom toolbar overflow menu, or the sidebar trigger.
- Snap points — The sheet snaps to 50% or 85% of the screen height. Drag the handle to resize.
- Canvas stays interactive — The toolbar remains clickable while the sheet is open. You can switch tools without closing the sidebar.
- Close — Tap "Close Sidebar" at the bottom of the sheet, or drag it down.
Tips
- Keyboard users: There's no shortcut to toggle specific sidebar tabs, but the toolbar "Panel" button toggles the sidebar open/closed.
- The sidebar remembers your last tab — When you collapse and expand the sidebar, it returns to the tab you were on.
- Context sensitivity — The Lights tab is the only tab that changes based on your selection. All other tabs show the same content regardless of what's selected on the canvas.
